Breaking Habits

I’m trying to break this little guy of a habit I have created. Rocking him to sleep. I love holding him and rocking him like a baby. Afterall, he is my last, so I’m funny that way!  I put Korver in his crib for a nap today, trying to teach him to fall asleep on his own, and in his crib. He was not happy with me! I let him fuss, then got distracted. All the sudden it got quiet.  I thought, wow, he did it! He put himself to sleep! Then I went to check on him. Yep, he did fall asleep on his own…but in his rocking chair! He’s climbing out of his crib now. I guess he rocked himself to sleep.

I felt so bad when I found him like this. Guilty mommy feelings crept in such as, “all he wanted was to be rocked,” and “he’s probably heartbroken .” I am a softy so this is a touch one to break. Ryan is much better at getting Korver to sleep than I.  For some reason he goes right to sleep in his crib when his daddy put him to bed. He knows his dad is all about business. He’s got me wrapped around his little finger.

P.S. I love his eyelashes and pouty little lips in this picture…

Beautiful photos! We are trying to get our two year old to sleep in his own bed. It’s not going so well; for the last six weeks (since our baby was born) his dad has been sleeping in there with him.ReplyCancel
