Back to School!

The other day the Salt Lake Tribune newspaper contacted me asking for some ideas and thoughts on taking back-to -school photos of your kids. I was honored to be asked! They found me through the blog I contribute to Click It Up A Notch. They also interviewed my friend Courtney, the administrator of that blog. The focus of the story was how moms are getting more creative using poses and props to capture their child’s first day. I told the  reporter that I like to take photos that tell a story about the excitement, details, general feeling of that day, and ages/grades of my kids.

Since the morning of their first day will be a bit hectic, I asked my kids if they would let me do a mock first day photo shoot with them. They were excited because they are going to a new school this year, a charter school with uniforms, and they wanted to try on their new duds. My goal was to capture their cute stages they are in and some of the excitement they are feeling about going back to school.

I got some of the ideas for these pictures from a great list put together by Courtney at Click It Up A Notch. If you are interested in downloading her list of ideas for first day of school photos, you can do that HERE. Thanks Courtney for the wonderful ideas!
