B decided she wanted to enter the Reflections contest this year in photography. The theme was “Magic of the Moment”. We came up with the idea together to make it look like her sister was reading a “magical moment” in a book. We had her hold a light below the book so it was hidden to the camera. We turned off all the lights in the room so it would look as if the book was coming to life. I helped her with the camera settings and she composed/snapped the shot and told her sister what to do. She had a winning entry for her school, then we attended the district awards ceremony last week. She was beyond excited when her name was called as one of two winning entries in photography in her age group to move on to the regional level! We find out at the end of the month how she does at regions. She couldn’t believe she won. I was so proud of her and I hope she continues to show interest in photography. I’ve been trying to teach her some of the basics of composition. She’s an artistic girl, so I think she would be a natural for sure!
