Ryann’s Birth Story

I was given the amazing opportunity to be the photographer at a birth this week. I did Landon & Shelby’s wedding pictures a couple of years ago. I felt so honored to be asked/trusted again and was grateful to witness the beautiful and sacred birth of their first child. I said a little prayer before I arrived at the hospital. I prayed for this sweet family who I adore so much that all would go well. I also prayed that I would be able to capture the emotions and love that would be present there.

After spending the evening with the Tracy family I was fulfilled completely. I was reminded of the miracle of birth and just how special that moment is when a mother & father sees their baby for the first time. I’m not sure there’s much in this life that compares to that moment.

I remembered how I felt during the birth of each of my children. The tears welled up in my eyes as I looked through my lens. When babies emerge from the womb they bring with them this incredible outpouring of love from their Heavenly Father whom they just left. That feeling coupled with the fact that this was their first born child….ahhh, seriously amazing day!

I would love to do more births. I was totally in my element doing documentary style photography. I’ll take shooting real life vs. the posed stuff any day!

So this is going to be a really long post with lots of photos. But I simply could not narrow it down any less! Each photo tells such a story. Congratulations Landon & Shelby!

Jen, what a cool experience. The pictures are beautiful. I wish I had shots of my children’s births like this. I would love to photograph something like this. I am curious, did you shoot with multiple cameras and a tripod or one camera (hand held)?ReplyCancel
